Copy the prompt
Paste your SRT file after this template. For long files, translate in smaller chunks and keep caption numbers continuous so review is easier.
Translate the following SRT subtitles into [TARGET LANGUAGE].
Rules:
- Keep every caption number exactly the same.
- Keep every timestamp exactly the same.
- Translate only the subtitle text.
- Preserve line breaks unless a translated line becomes too long.
- Keep names, product terms, URLs, and brand terms accurate.
- Use natural wording for native viewers.
- Return only valid SRT. Do not add notes before or after the file.

Why this works
Subtitle translation breaks when the model treats the file like ordinary prose. The prompt makes the file structure explicit: numbers and timestamps are not writing material, they are constraints.
The final instruction to return only valid SRT removes most wrapper text, explanations, and markdown formatting that would make the file fail in an editor.
Review checklist
After translation, scan the first and last caption numbers, check that every timestamp line still uses the SRT arrow, and watch for long translated lines that may need a manual split.
- Names and brand terms are still spelled correctly.
- Captions match the scene timing after translation.
- No extra commentary was inserted by the AI model.
- Long lines are readable on mobile video players.
